What a weekend. Timmins is... an interesting place, I'll give it that. Though, I'd recomend staying far away from the 101 Mall.
Learnt more about Magic the Gathering this weekend... It's hard, because there are so many rules, and only a few thousand cards to work with. It's something I'd have to work with intensivly to get to the place the other players are at, and I"m not sure I have time for that. I also played Risk for the first time. It's actally not that difficult, rules wise, but it is rather annoying when it comes to strategy. I learned a valuable lesson about spreading myself too thin, which, very strangly, translated into my life. If you try to capture more land than you have the men to adequatly guard, you're going to be stomped on, and wind up losing everything, including what you were given in the first place, and what you tried hardest to protect. It is better at first to focus on really bulking up 3-4 territories, and fanning out later.
Lastly, I spent a fair amount of time alone with Todd. Which was good. Really, it didn't change anything for either party (as far as I know), and it didn't change the nature of our relationship. It was just great to be with him again. He's making plans to move about the globe, and worrying too much about hurting the people he really cares about, but I'm sure he'll be fine. He's a restless spirit, and has a lot of wandering to do. He just needs to realize that that is part of his nature and accept it. And I know that he'll always come back, because that's who he is too (which I would imagine would be quite conflicting...), I just need to accept that, and stop being unjustly nervous (for lack of a better word) that he won't.
Last night, I did something terrible, in the most wickedly pleasurable form of the word. I downloaded over 30 songs in the course of 3-4 hours. I was giddy! And then, I downloaded a song only becase I remembered the title from years ago, and discovered something that may soon become an addiction: Tori Amos. I remembered seeing the video for Caught a Lite Sneeze when I was maybe in grade 8 or 9, I just couldn't remember the song. To be honest, I think I had it confused for 6 Underground by the Sneaker Pimps. So now, I have, and love the song, and can see why she's so loved by many of Todd's circle. Sooner or later, I'll post a list of what I actually downloaded...Oh, and speaking of Sneaker Pimps, Will was kind enough to burn me a copy of Becoming X. I recommend everyone hear that album in full at least once in their lives. Like, Now.
This week is going to be pretty work intensive for me. I have to read (and all but memorize, aparently) Antony and Cleopatra, Othello and Measure for Measure by Thursday, write a Parable for tonight's Prose Fiction class, and start reading the books Sarah gave me. Not to mention preparations for the test, essay and midterm all occuring the week after reading week (so, week after next), research Criminal Profiling for a presentation, contine writing Battle for Azurah as my Magnum Opus, and write a "directors notebook" with Dave for Shakespeare class, which should be interesting. For all his...flaws, he does have an interesting artistic vision. Finally, this week will be my week to clear all the loose ends from my plate. Business and work issues have to be dealt with, and I need to start prepping to fix myself up (bikini season approaches much too quickly anymore).
With all that in mind, I'll start my day (at 2pm, I know...). One step at a time is best this week, and I'd be greatful for people who can be patient with that. :)
